Marie's Story
After graduating from high school and college in Superior, I worked briefly for a TV station in Duluth, then moved to Madison. I earned an MBA, and went to work for the State. Meanwhile, I met and fell in love with Lonnie Houck, who was earning his PhD. We had a daughter in Madison, then, when he graduated, moved to Massachusetts where he took his first job with Bell Labs, and our twins were born. r religious educator. After 8 years there, we moved to San Jose, California, where he took several different jobs, and I continued to work as a Unitarian Universalist religious educator while we raised our three kids. Thirteen years in California was enough, and we moved to North Carolina two and a half years ago. Our daughters are both living here, as well, and our son is attending college in Iowa. I am continuing my work as a religious educator, and loving the work.
